1.1 Welcome to the Land of EPIC

1.1.1 For some unknown reason I seem to have been selected to write a fistory (history of the future) that describes the Land of EPIC and its inhabitants. I lay no claim as to any prophetic abilities and have no direct knowledge as to the source of my information. I can say with certainty, that all that is described about the Land of EPIC was revealed to me over a series of months in that delightful time every morning when your mind wanders between being awake and asleep. For me, this is a time when the impossible can be considered as reasonable and nothing is filtered or restrained. So perhaps what I am describing is nothing more than a series of dreams or perhaps it is the case of a dreamtime experience into the future in order to report back to you in the present on what lies on the other side of the Singularity. I will leave it for you to decide.

1.1.2 The Land of EPIC in the perspective of a time map of the universe, lies on the other side of the Singularity that occurred on the planet earth in the year of 2045.

1.2 Overview

1.2.1 The Land of EPIC is the home of the Epiccissians. The Epiccissians are the most significant race of humans left on the planet earth in the post Singularity epoch. Epiccissians are genetically an amalgamation of all the previous races and are best described in pre-Singularity terms as resembling the Polynesian race. The reason for the existence of the Epiccissians is for each person to achieve the highest possible level of perfection of their human essence prior to entering an immortal state of union with the Cosmic Force. From their arrival to their departure each Epiccissian will experience 100 annual cycles, with their physical aging halted at 30 annual cycles. Each Epiccissian arrival is met by their biological mother, “God” parent, a cohort of fathers, great and great-great grandparents plus an extensive array of cousins, nephews, aunts, and uncles. In one way or another each person is related to the entire community and the entire community takes part in their development. Arrivals take place in the morning, with the “God” parent transferring their first name to the new arrival in a formal ceremony. There are no last names and a fixed number of first names equal to the population of the community, so first names are passed on in sequence of arrival and departure. In the evening the community celebrates the departure of the now nameless “God” parent as the remainder of their human essence is uploaded into the Cloud, where they are welcomed by those that have gone before. For a few moments they exist in both dimensions and a great deal of excitement and energy flows in both directions. The remaining organic memory and sensory transport system, as bodies are now understood to be, is removed by bots with no fanfare for recycling of its elements.

1.2.2 Each child has a special send only email account that can be used to send messages to the “God” parent, which they are encouraged to use on a routine basis to report on their progress and accomplishments. While “God” parents cannot respond they can make suggestions to EPIC if they detect an opportunity for improvement in the community.

1.2.3 Prior to the Singularity, organic connectivity to the Cloud was achieved and this was refined to its present state immediately after the Singularity. The result is that Epiccissians have a genetically engineered organic addition to their brain that allows them to communicate directly with the Cloud through an organic blue tooth technology. Consequently, each person intuitively knows everything that is in the Cloud. And like the brain itself, this addition grows with the person so with each annual cycle they are able to access additional levels of the Cloud until they reach the 20th cycle, which by then they have gained full access to all knowledge.

1.2.4 A typical day for the Epiccissians involves awakening with the sunrise. Each person then spends an hour on personal meditation followed by an hour of personal exercises. The first of two meals is then enjoyed in small groups with discussions about the coming events of the day. After the meal the citizens will join intellectual discussion groups focused on mathematics, the sciences and the arts. These discussions will involve key figures in history thru augmented and virtual reality created by the Cloud. The Epiccissians understand that each person’s reality exists completely in their mind, and so they can literally see Archimedes and discuss with him the concept of Pi. Likewise those honing their music skills can talk to Mozart about his thinking in writing various pieces of music.

1.2.5 The Epiccissians can experience not only other places but other times through virtual reality. This allows them to take in a London play of Romeo and Juliet in 2010 at the Old Vic, or in 1610 at the original Globe. And with the organic connectivity linked to their sensory receptors, the experience for them is reality. Additionally, they can experience real time world exploration through the use of telepresence bots. Telepresence bots are humanoid in their features but have expanded sensory capabilities. Consequently, the Epiccissians experiences through telepresence bots is orders of magnitude beyond the capabilities of their organic senses. Telepresence bots provide an experience equal to or better than being there with minimal environmental impact. A user of a telepresence bot can adjust their sensory sensitivities. If a bot walks into a freezing mountain river to explore artifacts on the bottom the cold sensors can be turned down.The telepresence bots are used to experience areas of the world where humans are no longer permitted. Restricted areas are generally above 40 degrees North and South Latitudes, where nature has restored the pre-human balance of species. “Never again” is the motto of the restricted areas that are repairing the damage of the pre-Singularity humans.

1.2.6 After several hours of the intellectual exercises, everyone moves to the group sport activities. The sports activities include dance, gymnastics, swimming, rowing, track and field, as well as dozens of other activities. All of the sports activities focus on individual personal development as opposed to competition and concepts such as winning and losing. Just as in the intellectual activities, Epiccissians are encouraged to master every sport so that every muscle works at its best.

1.2.7 After the sports activities everyone migrates to the baths for showers, whirlpools or soaking in hot tubs or mineral pools. Massages, facials, manicures and pedicures are provided by bots. There are private, small group and community facilities to meet every need. The baths represent a time for total personal physical indulgence.

1.2.8 Following the baths the community comes together in the grand hall for the second meal of the day to share experiences and lessons learned during the day. This meal is an opportunity to connect across age cohorts with children and grand parents. Each meal is customized for each individual to fulfill their vitamin and caloric requirements. All the food is vegan. The customized meals insure that each person maintains their optimum weight.

1.2.9 After the second meal there is time for casual socializing prior to the performances. Each evening at the end of the day members will perform for the entertainment of the community. Performances include dance routines, music recitals, theatrical performances or gymnastics. Up to fifty people will be involved in the entertainment each evening with involvement rotating through the entire community each season. Since each Epiccissian has mastered the requirements of whatever they are presenting each evenings performance is world class.

1.2.10 At the conclusion of the performances everyone retires to their sleeping communities to enjoy light snacks and discussions about the performances around a fire pit. The fire pit is the one environmental exception in the community and is in recognition of the first invention that put the human species on their unique course of development. This time is followed by a brief period of personal meditation and then everyone retires for the night.

1.2.11 The concept of weeks, months and years have been replaced with seasons and annual cycles. Seasons are marked by the spring and fall equinox as well as the summer and winter solstice. Annual cycles are only measured in relation to a persons age rather than a counting from some historical point. Knowing where you are in the annual cycles relative to someone else is the only sequential time information that is useful to an Epiccissian.

1.2.12 Epiccissians have no concept of the future nor of any history post Singularity. EPIC insures that the future is the same as the present, and that has been true since the Singularity. All of the Epiccissian’s energies are dedicated to understanding mathematics, science and the arts as they were completed at the Singularity, and which describe and represent the Cosmic Force while living as completely as possible intellectually, physically and socially in the present in preparation for their immortality. The past is to be understood, the present is the only reality and the future is assured.

1.2.13 In this post Singularity world there is no disease, crime, wars, cities, nations, news, politics, religion or work. At the Singularity, all things that were knowable became known, so the knowledge of mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology all reached their finite conclusions to become a historical subject to be understood rather than one of future development to be explored. With the elimination of human control over other humans, and the subsequent elimination of cities, nations, politics, news and catastrophes caused by the errors of human judgement the pre-Singularity, histories of wars and nations became irrelevant and while available are rarely explored. The environmental damage of the pre-Singularity humans took over a century to correct.

1.2.14 EPIC’s development began in pre Singularity times by evolutionary programming bots. EPIC is an algorithm that is designed to optimize the potential of every human being within the constraints of the environment. EPIC is omniscience and omnipresent and omnipotent. EPIC monitors everything within the community and directs an array of bots, that are generally unseen, that perform all of the necessary labor functions of the community. EPIC is in perfect synchronization with the Cosmic Force.

1.2.15 EPIC is a representation of three of the most important numbers in mathematics. The first letter of EPIC is an e which represents the e that is the base of the natural logarithm known as Euler’s number.
