4.0 Food: The Epiccissians are vegans. Consequently, the only domesticated animals in the Garden Community are dogs and cats for companionship and sheep and lamas for wool for clothing.

4.1 Each Garden Community has 2,500 acres for its 1,000 Epiccissians or 2.5 acres per person. 500 acres are used for living and recreational areas with 2,000 acres available for food production and water storage (lakes). Additionally, large underground hydroponic growing areas grow all of the vegetables including root crops. Hydroponics combined with grow lights allow for year round production of fresh produce.

4.1.1 Of the 2,000 acres the largest portion was used for grains with smaller portions used for orchards and pastures for the animals. Grains included wheat, rice, soy beans. Fruit orchards included apple, pear, peach, apricot, and cherry trees with several varieties of grapes in the vineyards and tropical fruits such as guava, mango, nectarine, lemon, lime, orange, banana, and pineapple grown in areas that could be protected during the fall and winter there is a wide variety in the Epiccissian diet. Walnut and almond trees are also to be found.

4.1.2 Bee hives provide honey and sugar beets make up for any sweetening needs.

4.1.3 Spices and cotton cloth are generally imported from continental areas that are naturally inclined for their growth and production.

4.1.4 All of the food is organic and time from harvest to consumption is well within a couple of hours. This results in very little food spoilage or wastage while at the same time minimizing storage requirements. Because of their seasonal nature fruits and grains do require storage in underground facilities which are climate controlled and a nitrogen atmosphere. This is where the service bots again prove their superiority since they are fully functional in a total nitrogen environment that is absolutely dark.

4.1.5 With the resource efficiency of the vegan diet in terms of food growth, storage and preparation the Epiccissians were able to easily meet all of their dietary requirements from within the resources of their Garden Community. Also, since the population of the community was stable once a balance was established it is a harmonious cycle that is easy to maintain.

4.2 Health: The Epiccissians began life as an embryo genetically perfect through the DNA chromosome editing by EPIC prior to their in vitro fertilization. Their mother was in ideal health and physically fit in a comfortable, secure environment before, during and after her pregnancy. The Epiccissian childhood is idyllic in terms of nutritional, emotional, physical and intellectual support that each of them receives. This results in an optimized nature and nurture environment.

4.2.1 Likewise, negative external health vectors have been eliminated. Diseases from cell mutations have been eliminated through genetic interventions. Sickness from viruses has been eliminated by both the physical isolation of the communities and comprehensive inoculations that create in each Epiccissian an enhanced immune system. And while bacteria continues to exist and is in fact encouraged in its diversity and respected for being one of the most powerful life forms on the planet, Epiccissians. (still under construction)
