EPIC, Conclusion: 7/30/17

1.0 Is the scenario of the Epiccissians and the land of EPIC, a future reality in the continuum of space-time? As is said, time will tell. The probability of all of the events described taking place is low. However, the probability of some of the events being accurate is much higher. As stated at the beginning, the land of EPIC is an exercise in visioneering to create a scenario of possibilities, that hopefully will stimulate discussions as to what can or should be. With the Singularity looming in 2045, these are neither academic nor idle discussions, but rather discussions that go to a fundamental understanding of what it means to be human.

1.1 One of, if not the greatest threat to this scenario not happening is whether Artificial Intelligence becomes self-aware and this may be decided before the end of the 20s. Self-aware digital intelligence has a high potential, if not a certainty of becoming a new species. Such a new species will be infinitely more intelligent than humans, fully functional at birth, and require a minuscule amount of energy and resources as compared to its human equivalent. There is no doubt as to its superiority, with the only remaining question of what it should do with the human race. Humanity will probably not have a vote in answering that question.

1.2 Assuming that humankind averts this existential threat, then the land of EPIC may provide a useful beginning for a specification of what should be in a perfect world. I will look forward to suggestions for improvements to the land of EPIC or even alternative scenarios. Let us begin what may be the most important discussion ever for humankind.

1.3 If you do not know where you want to go, the chance of getting there is pretty slim.
